About Online Visits
What are online visits (virtual care)?
Online visits, also known as virtual care, allow you to receive healthcare services remotely from your doctor through a secure video call or phone consultation. It's a convenient way to get medical advice without coming into the clinic.
Online visits are ideal for many common health concerns, including colds and flu, skin issues, prescription renewals, mental health consultations, and follow-up appointments for chronic disease management. They are not suitable for medical emergencies.
Many virtual healthcare services provided by a family physician are covered by BC's Medical Services Plan (MSP) for eligible residents. We recommend confirming coverage for your specific service when you book your appointment.
The Appointment Process
You can schedule an online visit the same way you book a regular appointment, either by calling our clinic directly or by using the online booking system on our website.
All you need is a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera, microphone, and a stable internet connection. We use a secure, easy-to-use platform, and you'll receive a link to join your appointment before it begins.
To ensure a smooth consultation, please find a quiet and private space, check that your device and internet are working properly, and have a list of your questions and any relevant medical information ready.
Services & Safety
Yes. We use a secure, encrypted video platform that complies with all personal health information privacy legislation. Your consultation is completely confidential, just like an in-person visit.
Absolutely. If your doctor determines that medication is necessary during your consultation, they can send a prescription directly to your preferred pharmacy for you to pick up.
Online visits are not for medical emergencies. If you are experiencing a life-threatening situation, such as chest pain, difficulty breathing, or a severe injury, please call 911 or go to the nearest hospital emergency department immediately.
